PERFORMANCE

Be-Ball

Be-Ball is a physical articulation of the activity in the installation space where the projection of my video remained for the duration of the exhibition. The projection booth at Cypress College faces outward into a foyer where there are multiple doors, stairwells and windows.

I simply used a rubber ball thrown against a wall to drive the movement, pace, and gesture I elected to emulate with my physical body. Part way through the performance, I merge with a larger rubber ball in the space to emphasize the inherent sculptural manifestation of the activity within the designated area.

Audio for the video was eliminated because it would be fabricated and not a true reflection of the ambient sound in the installation space; shoes on cement floors, doors opening and closing, footsteps ascending and descending stairs, voices, etc.
