“Projects” is a dynamic section describing ideas and collaborations with other artists, select venues and communities. Versed in three-dimensional media and video art, my contributions invariably include my passion for the moving image however there have been many inciting inspirations over the years. I’ve explored several avenues with creative people and have embraced their artistic processes such as the written word, theater, time-based media, music, and more, which I’ve responded to as a curator, artist and entrepreneur

Curatorial

My curatorial projects typically manifest from my desire to situate under-represented art forms and emerging artists into the framework of contemporary art. I’ve been fortunate to find venues interested in exploratory group exhibitions as well as generous collaborators who have offered their time, spaces, supplies and audiences to help realize our shared vision. Currently, I am curating across mediums in interesting and diverse ways with very talented artists through my online project blackscratch.org set to launch in 2022. Blackscratch.org

Blackscratch.org is a forum for cross-medium text-based creative projects. It is a chance to overlay nonfiction with fiction; playwrights aligned with screenwriters; songwriters matched with novelists; phrases competing with essays, and a single word that will challenge and often conquer a sentence. I will selectively invite artists from different literary genres to submit their work as I plan to hold “open call” submissions. The selection process is intended to bend, contort and expand what is written about women and to right / [re-write] the errors.

In the spirit of the drive-in movie theater–reaching its peak popularity in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, particularly in rural areas–combined with the tailgate party, a supercharged, urban picnic centered around a sporting event sets the tone for non-narrative video to wipe out any memory of the Hollywood Blockbuster.
